I was planning to sell this on Ebay but I figured I’d put it up here and see if any of you are interested in it first. I have a portable record player with AM/FM and tape inputs. This Deluxe Trimline 600 portable stereo was made by General Electric in 1969 or 70, most likely in their Syracuse Electronics Park manufacturing center. The turntable motor is dated May 7, 1969 and several other internal parts were marked with 1969 manufacture date codes. This not so portable stereo weighs right at 50 lbs and the cabinet when closed is 22 wide, 14 ¾ tall, 12 deep. When open, and in use, it is approximately 44 wide, 15 tall, 8 deep. It can be used on most book shelves or other cabinets as it only needs about 16 inches of shelf front to back to store and operate. The AM/FM radio works great. I was able to pick up several stations with a simple speaker wire attached for an antenna. The tuning needle moves correctly, all of the lights work and the letters and numbers are clear and bright. . Each speaker cabinet is approximately 13x11x5 and is detachable from the main unit. Each speaker has a 10 inch woofer and a pair of 3 ½ inch tweeters. The original 12 foot long speaker leads were repaired with new RCA plugs, allowing up to 20 feet of speaker seperation, that’s plenty for most rooms. The record changer was made by GE it is fully automatic and it has four speeds and plays 7, 10 and 12 inch records. This one has the better “Tonal 1” tone arm and cartridge which has an adjustable counterweight for tracking adjustment. The cartridge and arm have been completely rewired and cleaned, along with the turntable motor and mechanisms. All functions on it work great and it has the original 45 adapter made by GE. The patch bay has phono style jacks for the Left and Right speakers and auxiliary jacks for both input and output, plus terminals for an external FM radio antenna. The line out jack sends a line level signal appropriate for recording or playback through another system. And it also has the “Porta-Fi” system, where you can add speakers in other rooms through the house wires with a special GE speaker. I’m asking $80 for this rare 1970’s GE record changer with AM/FM radio. Check out the pictures and let me know if you need more pics or information, or just want to make it yours.
