I was so very proud to officially open Alkira Secondary College in 2010. Labor worked with the local community to design, build and deliver the very best school and learning environment for our young people. Last night I had the great pleasure of attending their Valedictory dinner as their very first students graduate. Congratulations to these outstanding young people who have worked so very hard over the past six years. All this would not have been possible without their Principal Ian McKenzie who last night announced his retirement. Following his speech every last person, whether they be students or staff stood and applauded him for his extraordinary efforts. Thank you and well done to everyone who came together to build this fantastic school.
