I was waiting for the elevator to exit the parking garage this morning. A fancy sports car entered the garage and drove past. The person next to me said “Ugh, sooo jealous!” I thought about it and couldn’t see any reason to be jealous. 1. I also had a car that I drove into work. Both the fancy sports car and mine have wheels, air conditioning and got us from point A to B. 2. I am guessing the driver of the sports car, like me, was parking so he could go into his job. We both have jobs. 3. I am guessing at the end of the day, the driver of the sports car goes to his house. I have a house too, with air/heat, a warm bed and running water. (Follow up bonus for me, my home is a happy home filled with love. I can only hope the same for the driver of the fancy sports car.) So the way I see it, I have nothing to envy. Material things are material things. Some items are fancier or prettier than others but they just serve a function, not a purpose.
