I wasnt nearly as confident that Tony Stewart wasnt at fault to some extent for the death of Kevin Ward Jr. as I am now. I read this comment from someone that is very familiar with several different kinds of dirt track cars and how they really operate. A statement released from Kasey Kahne also cleared things up for me. I have always thought that sprint cars were a bit different but was clueless to the specifics. These comments should also shed some light on just how much danger Kevin Ward Jr. knowingly put himself in. I am sure he let his emotions over-power his ability to minimize the safety of himself as well as the other drivers which is something else that should be thought out before pointing the finger at Stewart. THE FIRST COMMENT: This is a direct drive car. Also it has a locker rear end similar to a go-cart. Driving one is like driving a jet ski. You turn all u want but it will go straight unless you throttle it up. So that being said if u watch it in slow motion. Tony actually tries to rock the car away from him. He does throttle it up for a second but I think he was trying to miss. Him by rocking the car from right to left. THIS STATEMENT FROM K. KAHNE: I truly don’t understand how in the world it happened and exactly what went on there,” Kahne told ESPN’s Marty Smith. “There’s only a few people who would. There’s no media person that can and there’s no fan that can. There’s too much you can’t see.” Keep in mind that Kasey Kahne made a name for himself and got a shot on the NASCAR circuit by dominating his division driving the exact same cars. #1. In order to change directions in that type of race car, you must gas it. This should dismiss the intimidation accusations thrown Tonys way simply BC he hit the gas. This convinced me that in reality, Tony was trying to miss Kevin, which was my uneducated opinion from the 2nd time I watched the video... #2. There are so many variables contributing to this accident, that Tony Stewart and maybe the drivers that saw what happened with a clear view are the only people that can justify placing blame on anybody aside from Kevin Ward Jr.. We all know how arrogant and aggressive ole Smoke can be. However, I dont think he is cold-blooded enough to purposely chew a guy up with the rear tire of his race car. Those placing blame should really click the link provided below and watch how Tony Stewart was severely injured BC he was unable to avoid clobbering a slower car ahead of him. Had this been a NASCAR race, Im sure he could have avoided both accidents simply BC he has way more control. After watching this crash, If you cant convince me that Smoke purposely did this to himself, then you wont convince me that the death of Kevin Ward Jr. was anything more than a tragic accident. My prayers are with everyone affected and I hope it results in higher safety regulations for all types of racing.... not just with NASCAR. #JustMyThoughts
