I would just like to post the bios of our incredible guest teachers/choreographers that are attending our dance intensive in August. I apologize for the length but they have done a lot so theres a lot to post lol This is for any of you who are interested in knowing who these amazing people are :-) Melissa Mitro’s bio Melissa began her dancing career at the age of three and competed in all genres of dance including ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap, contemporary, highland, salsa, ballroom etc. with great success. A winner of many overall awards in major competitions across Canada and the United States, Melissa has performed numerous times on Breakfast Television, at the Bell Celebrity Gala, and at the Toronto International Film Festival. The winner of the prestigious Celebration of the Arts Publisher’s Award (2008) and a 2nd runner up finisher at the Jump National Finals in L.A (2008), she has been featured in many music videos and performed live with artists in North America and Europe such as PSY, Nelly Furtado, Serena Ryder, Mia Martina, Morgan Page, Guinevere, Victoria Duffield, Anjulie, Tegan and Sara, Aleesia, Dru, Vita Chambers, Tyler Medeiros and Azari & III. Melissa has worked with such notable choreographers as Emmy award winning choreographer Mia Micheals, Emmy winning choreographers Stacey Tookey and Mandy Moore. A runner-up finisher on CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance Canada Season 4, Melissa has performed at the Pan Am Games in Mexico (Oct 2011), on YTV’s The Next Step, Russell Peter’s Christmas Special (2012), on CBC’s Beauty and the Beast (2012), on City TV’s New Years Eve Bash with Anjulie (2012), the Nick Carter tour in the U.S (2012), on CBC’s Over the Rainbow (2012), the Juno Awards (2012), Global TV’s New Years Eve Bash with Nelly Furtado (2013), on Murdoch Mysteries (2013) and the Much Music Video Awards (2013). Her SYTYCDC salsa duet received the 2012 International World Dance Award for Outstanding Choreography and TV Live Performance. She is a sought after teacher and has worked at many different conventions such as Jump, On the Floor, Idance, Evolve, Drop Dance etc. She excited audiences in the live productions of “Rave On” and “The Great Italian Tenors” in Niagara Falls as well as the Mirvish Production of Argentine Tango “Arrabal” in Toronto. Recently, she travelled to Croatia to perform in the Croatian Salsa Congress with the group Ansima Production Ballet. When not performing, Melissa travels the country judging competitions and teaching workshops motivating and inspiring young dancers in the art of dance. Kevin Howe’s bio Kevin Howe has been dancing since the age of 5. After 14 years of training in various styles of dance including Jazz, Tap, Hip hop, arco and contemporary in his hometown Ottawa, ON he decided to make the move to Toronto to begin his professional career. Since then he has taken the dance world by storm from all angles, working with big names like Girlicious, Blake McGrath, Ke$ha, Russel Peters and Lady Gaga to name a few. On top of his stage performances, he has also ventured into film. His film and TV credits include Sharpays Fabulous Adventure with Disneys Ashley Tisdale, HBOs Hellcats, Disneys Frenemies, Canadas got talent, and CBCs Over the Rainbow. Kevin was also chosen to be apart of Canadas top 22 on season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance Canada. Recognized for both his dance abilities and choreography skills, Howe has made a name for himself in the industry amongst other well established professionals. Having won the national title of Americas Young Choreographer of the year in both 2007 and 2010, his creative and innovative style has brought Kevin a lot of positive attention and he has since been given the opportunity to teach workshops and master classes to students and teachers across Canada Tyger-B’s bio Tyger-B first discovered dance in his first home of Washington, DC. Starting with Hip Hop, Dance Hall, and other styles through focus and sweat he was able to tour the United States with recording group 4Bidn and opening for concerts as a dancer for several popular national shows. Making the decision to further his knowledge and understanding of dance, he moved to Philadelphia to become a graduate of the University of the Arts where he studied and majored in ballet, jazz, modern, and tap. He decided before finishing college to start his career and went on to his first job as a choreographer/dancer for R & B recording artist “Ginuwine”. Since then, he has danced and choreographed for several artists such as Raven Symone, MTVs Mena Heaven, and the list go on. Making the career choice to leave the touring life, he moved on to represent USA for hip hop, house and other styles around the world in events and locations like Juste Debout in Paris, France, and WDC in Tokyo, Japan. Working hard to build his name in this dance setting, Tyger-B now gets recognized not only as a battle contestant but also as at teacher, performer, judge. He has been able to display some of these titles at Funky Style Stars in Yalta, Ukraine, M357 in Moscow, Russia, several locations in Japan, Canada and many more throughout the world. He is also an airbrush artist, mixed martial artist, graphic designer, model, and actor.
