I would love to say that our Thanksgiving was full of laughter and are stomachs were so full that we thought we would explode. Unfortunately, our holiday was full of the virus from hell. I am not a big fan of doctors and hospitals and pretty much try to just make myself better but it was not working. Tito knew I was sick when I said please take me to the hospital now. After coughing myself into completely passing out from lack of air for days I finally decided that the emergency room was a just the place I really wanted to be. We decided after dark that enough was enough so we loaded up in the truck. Brenley running fever and vomiting in the back seat all snuggled up with his lucky Tennessee smokey dog blanket and me coughing and gasping for breathe in the front. Coughing until your breathe leaves your body does seem to wipe away any fear of hospitalization at that moment. Of course, no drive in Honduras would be complete without the animals standing in the road giving you a complete heart attack and making the gasping for air seem like such a little thing. We were lucky we werent driving fast because of the road conditions which gave Tito enough time to miss the herd of horses in the road. We did make it to the emergency room over an hour away with Brenley and I being admitted with what was called dog cough. I was sure that that was not a medical term for something and I honestly thought they made it up so I would quit asking why I was dying. Two days of fluids, medicine and lab test we were finally released but told we would still not be better for another few days. This wasnt very reassuring since we live so far from the hospital but tomorrow was Thanksgiving and who wants to spend it in the hospital. We were totaled up by the bill collection guy to find out our two day episode would use all of our cash on hand and remove all the money we had saved for six months but we going to be better. I didnt have high hopes for a huge meal with all the fixings but little did I know how little it would be. We got home only to sleep the day away still induced with tons of medicine and a Santa size bag we were to take the next few days. Upon deciding we needed to buy food only to find out that the ATM want working and I couldnt charge anything on the card because I had reached my limit. While I ate my dinner of bananas and green beans I truly tried to be thankful but was having a horrible time of seeing the bright side. Then I thought and prayed that hopefully this was the last ever Thanksgiving like this one.
