I would never encourage doing what is done here unless your trained in handling a creature of this sort but for the 8 years I lived in my home I had a bat house. Never once was there a problem, in fact if they have a suitable place to go they dont try to make homes in attics Bc the bat houses are preferable. The bat house was on an area of property we didnt hang out in but interestingly enough it wasnt that far from my front porch swing. At dusk they would wake & fly off to feed. They usually dont feed near their home Bc the bats scent deters Mosquitos ~ which they like to feed on. Just like little happy birds they would fly playfully as they left disappearing into the horizon. I appreciated the bats for keeping my acreage mosquito free (!) as my home was lined with thick forest trees along with creek water on the property. Never ever did we get bit by Mosquitos at my house which is an amazing thing in Texas!!! Unlike many animal lovers I dont get all up in other creatures faces and dont ever want to encite excitement in feeding anything wild by hand but rather respect them not to encroach allowing them to be unless of course your certain of their safety & desire/ need of your assistance. Im assuming this little bat was rescued .... He sure is cute. By the way for the almost thousand species of bats only a few are blood suckers lol ....
