IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM ARASH. PLEASE SHARE Greetings again VHS Class of 1994, I hope you will all take a moment to read my heartfelt response to some of the confusion surrounding the status of our 20th reunion. Frankly, I feel the success of our reunion is too important to be sidetracked by speculation and banter. I take full accountability for any misunderstandings and respectfully request that anyone who is concerned about our 20th to email me @ VHS94Reunion@yahoo. I realize not everyone will agree with my decisions, but it is much more productive if you contact me directly so we can share our energies positively rather that creating negative and unwarranted speculation online. I started out with this a year and a half ago when Jillian called me and offered her assistance which I greatly appreciated. I honestly thought we would have a lavish event somewhere on the strip. However, based on the response from Facebook and word of mouth, it became quite clear that most of our classmates did not want such an event, which I completely understand and agree with. Times have changed, our outlooks on life have changed, and what worked ten years ago, might not necessarily work today. Fast forward to approximately a few weeks ago, when all the talk began and escalated to where it is now. Simply, with only about 10 people paid we did not have anywhere close to the response we were expecting to have. It was at that time when Karina first communicated with me and expressed her thoughts and opinions. Unbeknownst to me and without anyones knowledge she felt as if she needed to take this on by herself and run with it. I honestly admire her enthusiasm and passion, however I feel as if it could have been channeled in a different way and more respectfully. For the people that remotely even know me, Im not one that gets offended at anything so I have no hard feelings. As a kid who moved to the US without speaking a word of English, I have heard and seen it all. Even though Im not on Facebook, I have still been quite proactive and want the absolute best for our class. After talking to numerous classmates and referring to comments over the past year, I have realized that the general sentiment of everyone is to make our 20th simple and casual. It was with much consideration that I decided to pull the plug on Whitney Ranch after having a very good conversation with Jamie who was kind enough to offer the venue in the first place. I just want as many of us to reunite and be in each others company for a few hours as I know it will be a beautiful thing. Whether its at a private bar that we meet at or Valleys parking lot, its vital we understand that being able to say hello to someone you havent seen for over 20 years is what is valuable. With the utmost respect to everyone, I believe a simple get together at a local bar with a large number of our family together is better than a handful of people sitting uncomfortably at a ballroom hearing crickets chirp. That is the direction I am going so we can have the largest turnout possible. If you really think about it, we all have made a mark on one another in some shape, way or form and we have developed friendships and made memories that no one could ever take away. I have had the pleasure of reading posts made on Facebook forwarded to me...and just referencing the most recent ones, I was touched to hear Julie Tiemans graciousness and Jamie Valentis brutal honesty. This is not about any single person. It’s about the family which we called the Valley High Class of ‘94. Thats why its imperative for all of us to come together as one in a united 20th reunion to reminisce about old times and share our new experiences.Valley High left its imprints on me for the rest of my life...and not because we had the greatest facilities or the best football teams...but because we had some of the best teachers and we as classmates and friends had the chance to be in each others presence. Its as simple as that!!! The smallest things in life are the most meaningful, and it is not often that we can all be together. I am working diligently on finalizing the new venue and the final details will be posted in a few days. I am personally looking forward to seeing all of my classmates together again. Much Love Arash Yazdanpanah
