Ibadan Evil Forest: I was there in 2012 and I didnt know Sometimes we go through the valley of shadow of death without knowing it. God is indeed doing a great job in keeping us alive everyday and thats why we must always be grateful to him regardless of what we are going through. God has made many evil pass us by without we knowing. The second half of 2012 was my 6-month IT which I did with the Ministry of Environment and Habitat of Oyo State. I worked with the engineers of the ministry on the States drainage and environmental engineering projects. Good to mention that I eventually made a 7 points(distinction) in the rigorous 6-unit training course, a good booster to my CGPA. But only Gods grace had made it that I was able to complete the training. How did I got to the evil forest? Theres a collaborative effort between the State government and a company to build a 5-star hotel around dandaroo behind Premier hotel, Mokola. But the site that was set for the construction work had been a dump site for several unused beams and channel components which were meant to be used for channelization of Ogunpa river about eleven years ago. The contract was revoked from the original contractor and given to another but the beams and other components were abandoned at the site that was now (2012) earmarked for a 5-star hotel. The company in charge of the hotel wrote the State government to help remove all the stuffs and since the project was a project handled by the ministry of environment, it was passed to the table of my boss. We immediately mobilized to site to see how well get the job done. Our job was to find a way of evacuating those stuff from the site (they were very many). It was said that theres a dumping site somewhere around Soca and thats the place the stuffs should be evacuated to. It was also said that a part of the place was being used as a place where mad people taken from the city are kept. Since the evacuation work would gulp some money, we had to prepare a BOQ to estimate how much it would cost the government to do the evacuation. We got a man who had a crane that could do the job and we went to show him the loading and off-loading points so that he could prepare his bid before the job could commence. The place that was suppose to be the off-loading point is the place everybody now know as Ibadan evil forest. About four of us went there that day. Myself, the engineer (my boss), the crane owner and the driver of the ministry who drove us to the place in the States government vehicle. We entered the compound of the now popular building, the engineer tried to look at the suitable part of the place where the components could be offloaded. Then he told the crane owner to prepare his bid and bring it to our office. We walked almost round the perimeter of the building but I cant see the so called mad people in the building because the building was constructed like a factory, but I was hearing some voices and grumbling of people inside the building. Since they told us mad people are kept in the place, I didnt wonder why the noise and grumbling. But I could remember the place was stinking seriously and I even wondered why the State could be using such a place to rehabilitate mad people. The place seemed abandoned. When we were about to leave, I remember seeing a man and a lady coming out from one part of the building. They both look gruesome with some charms around their elbow and wrists. I wondered that does keeping mad people require such heavy charms and gruesome looking people? I sensed it there and then that certain evil could be going on around that place, because of the way this two people looked and their countenance. They even asked a man who looks like the gateman that who are these people? in mother tongue. The man told them were from secretariat and told them our mission, which my boss had told him before he allowed us to enter. We left the place shortly after that and remembered wondering what kind of thing might be going on there. Because of government bureaucracy, the evacuation work wasnt approved till I finished my IT and Im not even sure whether it has been done till now. I saw the building in a calendar been sold in town this evening and immediately called my then boss and he confirmed it was the same place we went in 2012. He was thanking God as Im also thanking God. Things could have happened, they could have seized the four of us down and drove our vehicle somewhere else like they did for the missing okada man. Indeed kiki awon ti Oluwa ba pamo ni o yo ninu ewu. It is only those who God protects that are delivered from evil. Seeing human skulls, bones and dead bodies in the calendar about that same place where I was physically present for almost 3o minutes about two years ago is indeed a testimony of Gods supernatural protection.
