Ibo has the largest population in Amuwo Odofin local government area. 80% of the people in the area are Ibo and they have contributed positively to the growth of the area, in terms of infrastructure and other things. With our contribution to the area and numerical strength, we believe it is time for us to also be at the helm of affairs in the area. The era of use and dump by political party is over; we are ready to bargain with any political party that will protect our interest. -Ohaneze Ndi Igbo of Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, Yorubaland. In 2012, Economic Initiative, which I managed, conducted a research on vehicular movement from Iboland into Yorubaland. We found out that on the average, more than 500 vehicles travelled from Iboland into Yorubaland daily. We projected that more than 2 million Ibo migrants crossed into Yoruba space yearly. For the same period, less than 200,000 people were allowed into the United States and 120,000 into the United Kingdom. Both the US and UK are richer, prosperous and economically and politically stable than Yorubaland that accommodated 2 million Ibo for the same period. Our findings obviously show that the political leadership of the Yoruba Nation has failed to secure the prosperity bequeathed to us by Awolowo. The more reason there are equal number of Yoruba and Ibo working in the financial services in Yorubaland whereas 98% of financial services staff in Iboland is Ibo. The statement above, credited to the Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, the apex Ibo Socio-Cultural Organization in Nigeria, is both insensitive and a declaration of war on the Yoruba people in their own homeland by immigrant population, save the Hausa immigrants, who dominate Agege area but have yet to claim it. When the blacks in England, a predominantly white society, wanted to seek political relevance in England (to be able to vote and be voted for), they argued that the English came to their various countries, raped their women and killed their men; enslaved and colonized others as well as stealing of their resources to developed England. For these reasons, they argued that morally and rightly so too, they be allowed to vote and be voted for in England. Today, blacks can vote and be voted for in England. But in Russia, China, Japan, etc., there are no black politicians. This is because Russians, Japanese and the Chinese did not enslave or colonize Africans. I have read the history of the Yoruba people and there is no one instance where the Yoruba enslaved or colonized the Ibo to warrant Ibo now claiming a right to be voted for in Yorubaland. The history shows that the Ibo once attacked and to a large extent enslaved the Yoruba kith and kin in Edoland and Itsekiri land. It is a flagrant insult to the memories of Oduduwa, Ogun, Sango, Oya, Osun and others, but more importantly on Awolowo for Ibo to come out openly to say it is time for them to rule over Yorubaland. We are going to order all the Ibo out of Yorubaland. Only few Ibo scientists, doctors, engineers, who are ready to nationalized would be allowed to live, work and get an education in Yorubaland under close monitoring.
