Ibrahin ibn Adham response to Why Allah Doesn’t Answer Dua ! Ibrahim ibn Adham was once asked “Why is it that when we make dua(supplication), we aren’t answered, while Allah(subhanahu wa taala) says ‘Ask me and I will answer you!’ (Quran 40:60)?” He replied “It’s because your hearts are dead.” When they asked about what killed their hearts, he mentioned eight attributes: 1. You know the rights of Allah(subhanahu wa taala) but you don’t give them to Him. 2. You read the Qur’an but you don’t apply its limits. 3. You love the Prophet (sallahu alaihi wa sallam) but have left his sunnah. 4. You fear death but don’t prepare for it. 5. Allah(subhanahu wa taala) has warned you that the devil is your enemy : ‘Verily the shaytan is an enemy to you so take him as an enemy[Quran(35:6)].’ Yet you join him in disobedience to Allah(subhanahu wa taala). 6. You fear Hell but you destroy your bodies in it. 7. You love paradise yet you work not for it. 8. When you rise from your beds you throw your bad qualities behind your back and spread the bad qualities of others in front of your eyes and get busy with them. So you arouse Allah’s(subhanahu wa taala) anger and then wonder why your prayers aren’t answered!!! If we are disobeying Allah(subhanahu wa taala),how can we expect that our supplications get answered by Him ? Remember,Allah(subhanahu wa taala) did not created us aimlessly, and in Quran,Allah(subhanahu wa taala) says,Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you (mankind) would not be returned?{23:115}-It was for a purpose. And also Allah(subhanahu wa taala) does not benefit from our good deeds; it is we ourselves who benefit. And likewise, Allah(subhanahu wa taala) is not harmed in any way by our wicked ways; it is we ourselves who face the consequences of our actions. There can be no meaningful life better than that prescribed by our Creator, Allah(subhanahu wa taala) and by following His commandments our supplications will be answered. May Allah(subhanahu wa taala) guide us all to straight path..Ameen
