Id like to share something very personal thats been weighing on my heart. My husband and I have both experienced in our lifes things that no child should. It would be easy for us to quit, to give up, to walk away when times get tough. It would be easy for us to blame everyone else, to never take reaponsibility for ourselves but we didnt. It wasnt a choice for us to choose better for our children, we just did. We never second guessed our love for our children, it was natural, it was just within us. It was always within us. We never considered giving up things a sacrifice because time spent with our children is the best thing weve ever done. Casey, you grew up without a father. Without a dad to guide you and teach you how to be a man. But because of you, our son will never know the emptiness of having a bike but not having a daddy to give him that first push and cheer him on when he does it all by himself. Because of you our daughter will always have the unreplacable love of a dad when some jerk breaks her sweet heart. There are times in everyones life when they need their mother or father, no matter their age or the reason and well always be there with open arms and warm hearts. We took our pain and turned it into love. We took absence and turned it into presence. We took misunderstanding and turned it into wisdom. I remember when I found out I was pregnant and I cried to you, I was scared, fearful of failing and you took my hand and reminded me that I was not alone. And when we lost our second child and you were full of doubt, I took your hand and reminded you of our strenght. And when we discovered we had a babygirl on the way, we took eachothers hands in celebration. Through it all, weve held eachother and because of that love now we hold two other little, beautiful hands. And through our hands and hearts we show our babies love, compassion, understaning, fun and strenght. All of which they will pass to their children and their childrens children. For this, we will always be here. We have left our mark on this world... our children. And they will make this world a better place. All because we never had anyone teach us how to ride that bike. Shout out to all the parents who are making this world a better place. To all the parents who didnt have parents. Rather single, co-parenting, married... I applaud you and thank you. Were doing it, were breaking the cycle.
