If Corey Booker had an ounce of integrity, he would have actively - TopicsExpress

If Corey Booker had an ounce of integrity, he would have actively opposed the very costly election 2 weeks ago orchestrated by Chris Christie. Christie coordinated the election, on our dime, so that he could win by a percentage significant enough to qualify him for a presidential bid in 4 years. Using public funds to further his own political agenda in an era when Food Stamps (around $150/month) have been slashed while the rich are given tax exempt status to increase profits, (the consequences of which are masked as a mysterious, randomly occuring, economic crisis) speaks volumes to his character. Here is my plea to those psuedo-revolutionary wanna be anarchists who rally against voting because both are worse. Please vote tomorrow to put food on a familys table. Vote for a chance for a kid born into rotten circumstances to get a fair break in a classroom to change them. Dont hold back your vote as some kind of misguided rebellion against your own upper middle class existence where your greatest suffering was when Ziccoti park got too cold and so you went home to occupy your couch, your non-vote can have dramatic ramifications for real people. Here is my plea to those people who think Chris Christie has anything in common with working people because the media has portrayed him as a no nonsense street toughie. Any body can look like a hero in the face of a tragedy. The devastation we all felt from 9-11 was brilliantly manipulated into an invasion of Iraq that still destroys families, Iraqi families attacked and brutalized for no reason and our own youth, trained like rabid dogs and then abandoned when they return, with no job opportunities or necessary health care to help them cope with the trauma of killing people so Haliburton could make money. Dick Cheneys heart has failed us all. Of course after Sandy, Christie could look like less like the self-serving, anti-people meanie that he is, especially when he got to go on Jon Stewart and talk about how much Bruce Springsteen wanted to be his best friend forever. Chris Christie is not with us. I feel it, its palpable in all public services which have diminished since he took office 4 years ago. I can see it in a future under four more years of Christie, where jobs become even more scarce and rent in areas around NYC, where most jobs are concentrated, begin to coattail on NYCs outrageous and criminal rents. I see it in the daily increase of people begging for food on Grove Street, standing with their hands outstretched in the shadows of the luxury buildings rising daily, blocking out the sun. I see it in depleted budgets for police and teachers and libraries and what that looks like in the face of the youth who have no viable future to look forward to. We have been abandoned by the Democratic Party, clearly, who either did not provide us with a viable candidate or provide her with a viable campaign. Tomorrow, when I vote for Barbara Buono, Im not voting for the Democratic Party. Im voting for myself. Im voting for families who are still reeling from the crash in 2008, when the Republican party bankrupted the country and left us barely breathing. Im voting for a wider breadth, in the next four years, to fight to restore our democratic rights that weve lost while trying to survive financially. Im voting for my friends who shouldnt have to live under the governance of someone who has stated time and again they are not equal and should not be married. Vote! Vote for Barbara Buono tomorrow and save your state!
