If anyone is look for a part-time job in the Portland area, there is a temporary job with the Oregon Judicial Department with Court Interpreter Services. Details about the job and who to contact below: We have approval to hire a temporary employee for a total of 2-4 months at 20 hours per week. The pay is $13.02/hour and the position will be housed in NE Portland where Certification and Training activities will be running at full speed. Duties will include: Check documents for accuracy before distribution, mailing or e-mailing. Participate in accepting and recording documents filed; record and confirm registrations, and basic data entry. Set up and maintain files, records, and reports relating to OJD activities; index and file a variety of records; input, update or delete information in a computer system; copy, scan, and distribute documents as appropriate. Use copier machine and scan documents. Assist the public or other internal or external customers by responding by telephone or e-mail to routine correspondence related to conference registrations, status of registration, or other matters, or by retrieving files and making and providing copies in various formats including digital. Be present at conference to assist with set-up, check-in registrants, hand-out documents, answer questions and assist with clean-up. Sort, assemble, and organize materials; route and deliver documents to the appropriate parties and locations. Prepare basic documents using word processing software, such as completing forms, typing routine correspondence, and locating records. Perform routine and basic computer data entry in connection with other aspects of the work. The candidate must have: Knowledge of basic modern office practices, procedures, and formatting for business letter writing. Knowledge of correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Knowledge of telephone and public contact etiquette. Skill in operating basic computer systems and office equipment. Knowledge of Access database preferred. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to learn basic procedures, documents, and frequently used terminology for OJD processes. Ability to perform work with accuracy and attention to detail in an often fast-paced environment. Ability to type or perform word processing accurately and efficiently as necessary for adequate job performance. Ability to operate a variety of common office equipment types and computer programs. Ability to adapt to changes in work expectations, processes, and technology. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to provide basic assistance and determine initial and appropriate course of action relative to incoming messages, calls, or requests from the public and others during the course of daily work. Possession of a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent life or work experience. I hope CIS staff know of an eager someone who is looking for temporary work or to add experience to a resume.
