If our fast-paced, no time for anything, society continues on the way its headed then situations like this could possibly be our future. Ive always posted about the difficulties of writing and other silly things. But Ive never before touched on the topic of the importance of writing. A library recently closed in Dallas and more libraries are planning to be closed. This is a crime against humanity if Ive ever known one. Some libraries are even turning into technical labs that offer E-readers to patrons....Dont misunderstand me, these technical devices offer a vast majority of literature in a very small space. The problem I have with these devices is that they decrease the value of hard-working writers and lower the value of their books. When you hold a book in your hands it is a treasure. You can fold the pages, mark notes of your favorite passages, skip forward or backward many pages. Overall the physical presence of a book just increases the amount that you would appreciate that story. Today it is more important than ever to write. To create original stories that persuade a reader to pick up an actual book and not just flick through a glaring screen. I urge you all to pick up a pen or pencil and put your hand on your paper. Close your laptop, turn off your computer screen (after you read this) and remind yourself what it feels like to literally create your own words out of ink or lead.
