If the system of caretaker government really has to go, it must go - TopicsExpress

If the system of caretaker government really has to go, it must go through the political consensus: The system of non-party caretaker government came to Bangladesh not by any court’s order or court’s judgement. Rather it came to being through political consensus resulted from nearly a decade long military dictator’s vote rigging and voter less elections. The whole nation was united to have this. The then main opposition parties (Bangladesh Awwami League (BAL), Jatiya Party (JP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami (BJI] demanded it, carried out more ferocious agitational movements [called more than 173 days strikes (hartals)] to realise their demand and the then government of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) reluctantly, heeding to the oppositions’ demand, introduced it. Even to pass legislation in Parliament or to amend the country’s Constitution, the whole nation does not have to agree nor do they need to agree. Simple majority or two-third majority of the Parliament is enough respectively to make/change a law and change the Constitution. The introduction of the system of the non-party caretaker government had the whole nation’s backing. Therefore, the system of non-party caretaker government cannot go or must not go through the mere court’s order or judgement. If it really has to go, it must go through the political consensus reached at least among major political parties.
