UNICEF has been extremely effective in convincing western nations to limit inter-country adoptions. The results have been catastrophic. As a result, the number of inter-country adoptions precipitously fell and the number of orphans worldwide spiked. Recent stats put the number of orphans around 132,200,000. Most of these orphans are institutionalized, homeless, malnourished and uneducated.....Yet, UNICEF continues to assert that inter-country adoption should be a last resort........But to UNICEF, which continues to argue that children should remain in their country of origin, at almost all costs, regardless of the type of care or the quality of that care.
