Interview Part 1 Interviewer, Kylie Stylo, gets up close and personal with Pat Spence… All authors must get at least a little bit of inspiration from somewhere. Where did you get yours? I get inspiration from the village I live in, the people I meet, current trends in the news, my dreams, conversations I have … Also, the books I read: Twilight series, the Victorian classic She by Rider Haggard, Harry Potter, Stephen King … What incentive do you have to write? To tell a good story that people will enjoy, with characters that come to life, that people can relate to, with a positive message, along with a slightly satirical look at life. To let people escape into a fantasy world and feel they have been somewhere real and exciting. Many authors claim that the characters come to life. Do you or the characters decide what they say? I know a book is working when the characters start to say and do things I haven’t planned. The characters always decide what to say, with a little guidance from me.
