Ill Sparknotes my idea: I want Reigns to succeed very badly because I believe he will be best for business in two years, however, he seems to not be there just yet. If he comes back in the next few months and isnt as hot as he was post-Summerslam, I would give the Rumble win to Bryan (the one hes rightfully owed after this years debacle) and work at putting each Shield member in their own prominent Big Four match at Mania. An idea that I had recently would be to have Seth Rollins become so paranoid that The Authority isnt looking out for his best interest anymore. This would occur presumably after the Orton face-turn, so were looking months from now (even if it happens). I think the perfect Attitude Era-esque swerve would be to build a Rollins/Authority inner feud, but at the same time pulling the trigger. Sometime after Wrestlemania (Extreme Rules) have Bryans first championship defense be a heel Rollins vs. face Bryan match. Have The Authority unintentionally cost Rollins the match and have it blow up in their face. On the post-Mania path, have Reigns gain absurd amounts of steam, leading to him winning a Beat The Clock/tournament style . Rollins in a last-ditch effort uses his briefcase to weasel in the match believing he can sneak out a win in a three-way by pinning either guy. Bryan/Reigns/Rollins for June. The Authority comes out once more and in a SWERVE, they cost Bryan and ROLLINS the match and declare Reigns as their real Plan B and corporate champ. (This parallels The Rock winning the WWF Championship for the first time). Now, from here, you can book it however you want. Yes, Bryan gets another shortened title run, but his Rumble run to here will make up for his lost time this year. Reigns/Rollins feud and have Rollins trade a title win here and there and build him up as a huge face. Waiting in the background is Dean Ambrose, the character a lot of fans want to get behind. Ambrose can wait a year and work feuds/matches of the year with a bunch of superstars, turning face/heel however he needs to because he can. I believe it will benefit Ambrose the most if he gets to the title last because he already has the backing of the older crowd (much like Rollins does). Eventually, Reigns and Rollins will have each been a champ (Reigns twice) using this idea and Ambrose: 0. Eventually Ambrose splits from just wanting chaos and wants to be champ just because. This all leads to the epic Shield triple threat match for the WWEWHC at Wrestlemania 32 that everybody needs to see. Ambrose wins the Rumble (chasing the title as the face and last Shield guy to win it) vs. Reigns (the Corporate heel or recently broken away badass tweener) vs. Rollins (this generations HBK). Hopefully, theyll all be at the point where their characters have developed where it becomes three completely badass tweeners just going for the title. That would be a site to see. Ambrose/Rollins have given us a reason to care about them. Reigns is still using a generic Shield/ look/entrance/delivery/presentation. His segment on Monday really nailed that point. I think something needs to be done to make people care about him if he is to chase the title. If Brock were to take out Reigns, I dont think it would unite the crowd. A tactic that has generally worked in pro wrestling since the dawn of time is turning a character heel and letting him own his true persona so that the crowd can love him for who he truly is. Post-Hogan, it worked for Michaels, Austin, Rock, Triple H, Jericho, Cena, Orton (in 09) among other smaller superstars. Thats my logic anyway. Im not looking into this from an asshole JUST TURN HIM HEEL! perspective. I think this swerve/double-turn could actually work.
