Ill try to list some of the things that this building has been from what Ive been told over the years. It has been a huge success far more than it has been a failure. What can you add to this story? - 1960s It began as a protestant church (it was never Catholic as rumors say and thus the priest did not hang himself). - 1970s - 1980s Then a local German man turned it into the Vienna Schnitzle and in a famous move he didnt want to get a building permit so he and his friends popped up the second half of the building over a weekend so he didnt have to. - He died in a plane crash and his son took it over but it apparently lost its quality and closed. - 1990s Kelly Obrians came in the right side and the second side was Dakotas nightclub. Some Tax issues? led to it closing but it was hugely popular at the time. - 2000s A large group of investors turned the building into the Buffalo Brewing Company. Rumors said this was an elaborate investment scam and something certainly happened that was wrong but Im not sure how or why. - 2005 It was taken over at auction by the Manhas brothers and they turned it into a pub followed quickly by Kevin Hunters attempt with Rookies pub. Neither attempt could pull a large enough crowd. - 2007 I took it over with Mike McGuire. He opened a pub and I opened a club called Fyre on the right. It wasnt ever meant to be though because the day we got the licence approved the value of the building increased and the owners listed it for sale from underneath us. Safe to say it was destined to close it was just a matter of time. Happily we sold rather than closed and left with all our bills paid in full. - 2009 Jordie Hoover put millions into the building and ran it successfully until today.
