Im a little confused why so many people would be upset over a Coke - TopicsExpress

Im a little confused why so many people would be upset over a Coke commercial that featured a multilingual version of the song America the Beautiful. First of all, the United States of America does not have an official language. We are a Country that is based on immigration. (Hence the term, the great melting pot.) The United States has no native culture, the closest would be that of the Native American (American Indian) and even they migrated here at one point, they sure didnt speak English. North America was discovered by an Italian that was funded by the Spanish, I am sure they didnt speak English as a primary language. Yes, our original 13 colonies were founded by the British, but eventually we declared independence from that English speaking nation. So as I stated before, we do not have an official language. What we have is a nation that is full of diversity, a nation that is based on many different cultures, a nation that has many languages. As I have seen many of you say, If you are going to live in this country, you need to learn English. Well, maybe you should learn multiple languages in the spirit of what our Country is based on, immigration. Also, I have seen a lot of people say the use of the song America the Beautiful in a multilingual form as going against traditional American values. I think what you really mean is white, Christian values, there is a difference.
