Im frequently asked a lot of questions about the Foglight. Why are you so busy in the middle of nowhere? they ask. How do you make any money in such a rural area? is another question they ask. They say Youre so lucky to have been in business as long as you have is often said. Well, anyone who knows me knows I dont believe in luck. People who rely on luck in any aspect of their lives are regularly disappointed. They wonder why they dont win the lottery. They wonder why people dont give them nice things. They wonder why they cant stumble across their golden egg. To wonder is to desire or be curious to know something. I believe theyre wondering about the wrong things. Why wonder why you cant be lucky? Why not wonder what you can do to create circumstances to be blessed with the things you want? Years ago, I felt I had been dealt a bad hand. I searched for my golden egg and I kept stumbling. Then something happened; my life as I knew it fell apart, and I was crushed. Ultimately, that demise was yet again the result of my wondering about the wrong things. I turned to God, asked Him to be in my heart and to guide me. He taught me to forget about luck- it doesnt exist, and to search for blessings. Now, because I changed my sense of wonder, Im deeply blessed with a beautiful family, a terrific job, and Im surrounded by wonderful people. I thank everything and everyone around me for reminding me how truly blessed I am, but ultimately I thank God for my new sense of wonder. Im challenging everyone who reads this today to ask yourself this: Do I wonder about the ways I can improve my life, or do I wonder about why my life wont improve on its own. Have a beautiful day.
