Im noticing that in spite of our best efforts to raise awareness regarding trafficking that happens all the other days of the year besides Super Bowl Sunday, there remains a very large, uninformed and zealous push to focus on this specific event. Along with that, there is an ever growing influx of well meaning individuals who want to jump immediately on the first bandwagon they come across, expecting to be given the cold, hard truth. In a recent post by a well known org, I made a comment about children who are trafficked by their own families. I was told by another commenter that, oh yes! this does happen when families are faced with extreme poverty and their cultures find it acceptable. Hello?? How about right in our good old American apple pie communities, involving seemingly ordinary middle class families that are simply very twisted and sick?
