Im the famous guitar player, late Duane Allman said, but Dickey is the good one. The two spent less than 3 years together in the Allman Brothers Band, but they established an epic rapport–jamming at length/trading solos/playing their famous twin-guitar leads. After Allmans death in 71, the group continued w/Dickey Betts. For all his blues and slide chops, his roots are in jazz, and you can hear the influence of his clean-toned modal soloing in every Southern rock group thats followed.
