Im watching the developing storm over the central gulf coast - TopicsExpress

Im watching the developing storm over the central gulf coast carefully as its already a sizeable system and likely will intensify rapidly on Saturday. An off shore storm track is prefered, but its precip. shield is quite wide and considerable tstorm development to its east is throwing some heat up into the atmosphere building a ridge which may have the effect of forcing the storm a little bit closer to the coast. Any track shift in that direction would mean subsequent adjustments up in the snowfall projection for the region (see the map posted earlier to this page). Snow will break out in areas south of Albany after 2-3am with snow into the Capital Region by daybreak. The storm will move fast which means snow will end from west to east from the mid afternoon through the early evening hours with 3-6 in the mid Hudson valley to Berkshire and Litchfield counties and 1-3 in the greater Capital Region as it stands now. Low to mid 30s should have initlally snow covered roads Sat. morning becoming wet during the late AM and early PM. Ive got more on the situation from 5pm to 7pm on CBS6
