Imagine a surgeon who stitched up the wounds of cancer patients, - TopicsExpress

Imagine a surgeon who stitched up the wounds of cancer patients, but never cut out the cancer. Those stitches would just wall it up inside while the cancer grew worse. If we are kind all the time, but never good, then we allow spiritual cancers to grow in ourselves and others that will destroy lives. If we are good, but never kind, then we go around cutting the sin out of ourselves and others, but never work to bring healing. This is like the surgeon who cuts people open, but never stitches them closed so that they can heal. With just sappy kindness or just snappy goodness, we and our patients will never heal. Together, the kindness and goodness that God creates in us do the work of healing, healing by cutting out what is damaging and healing by binding up the wounds.
