In 1941, the US froze all Japanese assets over the Jap invasion - TopicsExpress

In 1941, the US froze all Japanese assets over the Jap invasion and occupation of French Indochina. 75% of Japanese trade and 88% of their oil was cut off. If they invaded Malaya to get that oil, they risked war with the US. Japan attacked the US fleet at Pearl Harbor, hoping to knock the US out of the war, before they could even start. Fast forward 73 years and the US is imposing trade sanctions against Russia, trying to hurt their economy, to stop their adventuring in the Ukraine. Will Putin accept this damage to Russias economy and stand down in Ukraine? What if he decides war with the US is inevitable and cannot be avoided? Can he attack the US to free himself of us? Where would he attack? There are fewer than 200 sea miles between Russia and Japan. The US has about 50,000 military personnel stationed there; including 350 USAF fighters, HQ of the US Seventh Fleet, and the III Marine Expeditionary Force. A massive airstrike against the US forces in Japan is a believable scenario.
