In 1989, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) set up the Animal Breeding Centre (ABC) at Salon in Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh with the objective of developing genetically superior milch breeds, thereby contributing to raising per animal productivity. Since its foundation, the ABC has progressed from simple breeding of genetically superior Holstein-Friesian, Jersey and crossbred bulls for National Cross Breeding Programmes to pursuing its mission by using advanced breeding technologies like Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer.
