In 2007 I took a little black and white girl from the LDH. She had failed because she had skin allergies, her brother who came in with her you couldnt get near he was extremely aggressive and was euthanased at the end of their 8 days. I cared for this little girl in foster care and home, treated her hot itchy skin - and found her a beautiful home with Mum and Dad Leanne and Anthony and brother Malt Harry. A little while later I heard Honey Rose had developed epilepsy - but was doing well on meds and it was controlled. This week, all those years and dogs later, I got a lovely update. Honey Rose is doing well and is happy and loved. Here she is with brother Harry and I look at her and think of how she would not have been here - if for fate stepping in. I took around 60-70 dogs in the time I was allowed into the LDH - all had failed for one reason or another - all were treated, healed and rehomed successfully. I know there are dogs dying in there still that could be saved - like Honey Rose. With the right attitude and an openness we are seeing this in many facilities, unfortunately we will never see this in the Lost Dogs Home. I mourn for the hope lost - and remember I was lucky enough to be in the right place and the right time for some, like Honey Rose.
