In 2008 I graduated from Jackson State University with everything that I could possibly need to be a force in the World of Business. My instructors mentored me and stayed after class to hear about stocks that I was buying while at JSU...and gave me advice on the positions! If you know my dad, you know he is one of the most humble and motivational people in my life. I called my dad in October 2008 when the stock market crashed and told him that I had lost EVERYTHING that I worked hard for while at JSU. He said son, its ok..you can get it all back...no worries I said but dad, I lost a lot! He said the exactly same thing again. I said Dad, I lost almost $90,000 dollars...he said Son, you lost what! I said, exactly! My father, once again put positive vibes into the atmosphere and told me that God would enable me to make it all back and I could tell my story one day! I called my college professor that taught me almost everything that I apply today in Finance Ivy Lavell Williams, and he said Pres, its just money.. My sister Angela S. Collins was at a loss for words when I told her about the loss...I was heartbroken and thought that I could not make it back. Losing that 90k was the best thing that ever happened to me! Not only did I learn a wealth of knowledge, I learned Diversification of Asset classes! Even though this was an international crisis event that I could not even stop today, I am doing exactly what my dad suggested! Not only has my fund recovered ALL of its losses, I am more diversified than ever, and I am almost ready to accept outside funds from investors with a proven track record of making money for myself, family and close friends! We are at record highs, and I am on track to hit my market goals during the first half of this year!!! I am helping others get out of debt, helping students pay for college, I am telling this story as my dad said I would, and Im sure someone will realize that they can do the same! I know if I did it, you can do it also! Stay encouraged, stay hungry, stay humble, and thank God for every lesson you learn along the way!
