In February of this year, partial repeal of the container deposit program in Vermont was under consideration in the Senate. The partial repeal would have decreased #RecyclingRates, while increasing landfilling and littering rates (including #PlasticPollution). CRI provided testimony in opposition of this partial repeal along with other Environmental organizations, community groups and redemption centers. As a result, Bennington Senator Bob Hartwell asked legislative council to remove provisions from Senate Bill S. 208 that otherwise would have weakened Vermont’s Container Deposit Program.
