In Islam, the purpose of life is made extraordinarily clear. It is to worship Allah. However, the idea of worship is not bound to the parameters of physical worship like prayer, fasting, and charity, rather it extends to all actions performed by a believer throughout his life. By this logic, providing for your family, eating, sleeping, and being good to everyone around you all culminate as acts of worship to Allah. As believers, we must step away from the idea of extremism in general, for there is no place for it in our lives, our society, or our religion, even when it is enforced in otherwise beneficial acts of worship. The idea of Islam as perfection through the middle or moderate way is much deeper than the superficial understanding we have established for it. The reason our Prophet (pbuh) is the perfect role model is because he emphasized the need for moderation in every part of his life, thereby setting an example for how we should live our own lives. - Garden of Islam - Salam :)
