In Kabale district most women survive by digging in other peoples small shambas. They are paid shs 4000 a day. However in the dry season that starts around june, july and august have no one to hire them. Most of them stop contributing to the small finance groups they belong too. They take debts from small grocery shops in their neighborhoods. They recently met me and asked if i can connect them to organisations that can improve their skills. Because they hear my voice everyday, they know i reach policy makers and i can do something. In Uganda its difficult to know who is hiring workers. A caring govt have a bureau for employment. It can avail information to people so that when put of season of agriculture pple take on other opportunities.
