In Nazi occupied Arnhem, there was once a young girl who later became one of Hollywoods biggest stars. Edda van Heemstra She had secretly danced, (ballet) for groups of people to collect money for the Dutch resistance. She also occasionally acted as a courier for the resistance, delivering messages and packages. After D-Day, conditions grew worse causing the Dutch famine, that followed in the winter of 1944 as the Germans had blocked the resupply routes of the Dutch. People starved and froze to death in the streets. Edda and many others resorted to making flour out of tulip bulbs to bake cakes and biscuits. After the liberation, she fell ill from putting too much sugar in her porridge and eating an entire can of condensed milk. Can anyone have a guess at who this may be without using a digital search engine?
