In Self-realization the ego remains intact but you are totally free of any identification with it since you have realized yourself as void. You are a vacuum, nothing, nada. Without some ego at this point you could not function; not remember your name or age and so on. I was in this state for a day and it was hell; fortunately my ego reemerged. But remember it IS NOT YOU. Later you begin to see the Self in everything and this is the beginning of perpetual bliss. You live in rapture 24/7. I lived in this state for six years and could hardly function. Fortunately I do not have to take care of a job since I am self employed. After this unity consciousness begins to manifest and then the dysfunctional bliss dissolves into a recognition of Shiva-Shakti in and as everything. This latter state is the only state that can be called non-dual. Mr. Lovebliss
