In addition to the 9 major college and university awards that our students and faculty have already earned this year, there is news of two more. Paul Quigley has been selected by the local Phi Beta Kappa chapter to win this years Sturm Research Award for his book, Shifting Grounds: Nationalism and the American South, 1848-1865. And Grayson Van Beuren, a double major in History and Art History, has won the Wilson Prize for the best undergraduate essay for his paper entitled Six Foot Gauge or Ten Foot Woman: Technological Anachronisms in John Tenniels Work. You might recall that Grayson also won the departments History Prize for this paper. Both will be honored at the PBK initiation ceremony this Thursday, May 15, at 12 noon, in McBryde 100. Congratulations Paul and Grayson!
