In case juniors asks for advice after 6months, share this post. I would be happy if this helps them anyhow. Why AOT should be chosen amongst private colleges? I see none has taken any initiative regarding recommending Academy of Technology aka AOT to our coming batches/juniors. Currently I am an undergraduate student here and I am highlighting some key points which might be helpful to them. 1. They say What we do upon some great occasion will probably depend on what we already are: And what we are will depend upon Self-Discipline Thats correct. AOT is by far the best DISCIPLINED engineering college that one can come accross under WBUT. The horizon of discipline starts from starting classes in exact time to ending times of extra classes. We would go gaga in our first year for the back to back classes, but, with course of time we learned and managed. Today its a habit. There you see, AOT made you learn a good HABIT. 2. ASSIGNMENTS: Just like IITs, we solve two set of assignments in each semester and submit within due dates. It tries to follow a lot of other techniques from them, and youll know once you enter here. 3. Internals: Internals will never stop following you! First, Second and Supplimentary. They will give you chances, you decide to study or not. No? Then AOT is not your place. Please select any other random colleges. 4. Faculty Strength : Considering your thoughts of choosing AOT after wbjee or AIEEE, it wont be mistaken for me to perceive that you did poorly in them {Yes, even I did that bad :/ } Faculties here are helpful and extremely friendly to say the least. Each dept. has some senior teachers (ex-IIT faculties) who are more than wikipedia in their respective fields, and I am not exaggerating. Trust Me. Yet, I feel overall quality could have been better and should be so. Afterall, they are the ones who will shape our next 4years right? Then again, look at your rank and ask if you deserve better. I can assure if you have rank around 6k or more, take AOT. :v 5. Library : Amazing library. Huge source of knowledge (You have just one head and you dont read 10k books right?). Huge collection of books and journals. You can even find monthly magazines,( which covers most of the needs. eg: DRDO news, Patiyogita Darpan,CS etc.) 7-8 different daily newspapers. One thing of concern is the less attendance of pupil in library. Oh, not to forget the air conditioned Digital Library! 6. Amazing green campus of 10.66 acres. This doesnt matter much. So if you are head above heels watching the campus on entering or in websites, just ignore. It is located 52 kms from kolkata and that is a disadvantage here. 7. Now the most important feature that marks the only criteria to some parents and students while selecting a college. CAMPASSING. I have not faced the inside out of this and is yet to face them after 6 months, but I can assure you campassing here in AOT is quite average as far as the best colleges under wbjee are concerned. But its certainly its better than the colleges which are pronounced in the same bracket as AOT. I can take names of the visiting companies but I would refrain from doing so. Visit its brochure for further info. To confirm you, brochures dont lie. 8. Extremely transparent. The administration pushes the students and teachers to keep themselves on toes. Here, the admin is the BOSS. Like the ultimate Boss. And its quite frustrating as noone gives a damn about about views!
