In conjunction with this minimum wage law, child labor was severely curtailed under this act as well; children could only work in family run businesses or on farms and were limited in the hours they could work. The result was a flood of minimum wage earning men into manufacturing, mining and railroad jobs in 1938 as children who occupied those jobs were let go. The minimum wage is not meant for people to live on. This law was intented so that employers could not take advantage of people. My thought is go out and better yourself, learn a trade, get an education so one dont have to earn that min. wage. Better yet, let thes idiots stop dropping out of school and get a life. I cant see many people going out too McDonalds and paying $5 for a dam hamburger. I can only wonder what it would cost for a gal. of milk for the kids, maybe $8 give or take, or even more. People dont stop to think how a large increase in the min. wage would affect the whole country. The very people that get the increase would be spending it on the other end to live.
