In dealing with children I have heard this blatant line very often, I hate studies. What I appreciate is that they make no bones about it. It is stark in the face for all to see. But then there is very little choice. With the changing times, studies take up almost half of ones life. My mother says in the seventies being a metriculate was considered pretty decent. In the next decade the bar raised from twelfth and various diplomas to graduation. The graduation bar was further raised to post -graduation etc. Now there is a minimum of twenty three to twenty five years of education. Is that not almost half of the life that we (in the era of premature mortality) are blessed with? But along with the rise in education and the vertical and monetary growth, there has also been a steady decline in a lot of things. Here the limelight is on the good ole days. The value for life. The appreciation of good things and most importantly satisfaction. Perhaps it has something to do with less stress and more contentment. Back then less was more and now more is less.Despite all that education, dream jobs etc. probably the only place thats content is the bank account. The rest seem to be in a quandary. Reminds me of the famous song .. Sab kuch seekha humne na seekhi hoshiyari.. sach hain duniya walon ki hum hain anadi...
