In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the UN resolutions are providing basis for settlement of the Kashmir dispute. According to Media sources, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a media interview in Srinagar said that the APHC was bound to carry on its struggle for resolution of the dispute according to its constitution, drawn in 1993. He stressed the need for unity among ranks and files of all pro-freedom groups and organizations to take the struggle for right to self-determination to its logical conclusion. The Mirwaiz said that so-called elections were not substitute to the solution to the Kashmir dispute and it had been made explicitly clear in the UN resolutions that any elections in the territory would not be alternative to the right to self-determination.
