In one of the most strange pre-prayer/ using music as meditation session, I awoke something within me tonight. Using the song Sons and Daughters by the Decemberists, I entered into a meditation that connected me with the call of Pope Francis to go out into the world and live our faith. That same meditation at the same time also connected me with those that I love who have gone before me who lived that call in their own way -my sister, Jim Profit, and the whole communion of saints for that matter-. Using Simon and Garfunkles Bridge over troubled water, I connected with something within me that has been lacking for the past 6 months: A profound passion for life, but at the same time, a burning desire to give every ounce of my being to be present to those who suffer, those who are drowning in the darkness of our world, or who are too afraid to try crossing the river of despair that confronts them. How these things connect is beyond me. All I know is, something has awaken again tonight. Im ready to follow you Lord.
