In prayer, the Christian confesses sin which the word of God - TopicsExpress

In prayer, the Christian confesses sin which the word of God exposes by the Spirits ministry in conviction of sin. That foul teaching which is being spread abroad that takes people to a place where they say I am not sin-conscious. . .as though there were virtue in ignoring ones sins. What?? Why, if that drivel were anything to even regard with any seriousness at all, then the person who diligently cauterizes their conscience and who allays any pangs of guilt would be eminently holy. This is not saving repentance. Paul speaks of the unregenerate who in the futility of their minds are darkened in their understanding, they are alienated from the life of God due to the ignorance within them, and who being past feeling have given themselves to all manner of lasciviousness and the practice of deceitful desires (Eph.4:17-19). The believer in Christ is not blind to and unfeeling towards his/her sin as to subscribe to the false notion of not being sin-conscious; unless such a person is an unbeliever. To believe that repentance simply means a change of mind requires a total denial of what the word of God evidently portrays when it speaks of sorrow for sin, contrition, and mourning in the anguish of transgressing against God. It takes such blackened impenitence in detestation of true repentance as a means of grace for one to pervert the doctrine of godly sorrow by twisting the biblical definition of repentance in the believers life. The false teaching of not being sin-conscious sets the orthopraxy of mortifying sin, as couched in doctrine of sanctification, at odds with itself, for who wars against sins which they perpetually turn a blind eye and a deaf ear and a callous heart to? Such as do this will die leprous and cancerous, yet thinking themselves healthy. It also does great injury to the doctrine of justification by faith. Thus anyone who teaches this falsehood is a liar and an enemy of the gospel of Christ.
