In search of coffee this morning, Jason and I got to do some exploring in our new neighborhood, which weve decided is pretty much perfect for us. Things we noticed: bike paths, very old trees, dogs, cafés, three playgrounds, a community garden, two train stops, twinkle lights, prayer flags, triple-decker houses with stacked porches, babies being worn, babies in jogging strollers, tiny elderly men wearing Red Sox hats. When we returned, my mother and Benna had met our neighbors, a lesbian couple who have lived here over twenty years, and pepper their incredible garden with animal figurines for the neighborhood kids to play with at will. Then they offered us access to their homegrown produce: herbs, tomatoes, chard, raspberries, peaches, apples, and, most awesome, corn. Fresh corn growing in the middle of a city block. We are Happy this morning.
