In some of my various appeals to all and sundry to buy my novel - TopicsExpress

In some of my various appeals to all and sundry to buy my novel (by the way, BUY MY NOVEL!!!), I used the phrase “the truth of fiction and the fiction of truth.” It’s a good phrase, referring to the truths that are subtler and more elusive than those that reduce to fact and exposition, and to the degree of uncertainty we all need to embrace regarding that which we take to be fact and compelling exposition. In an essay on religion and dogma, I emphasized the fluidity of reality, the difficulty of tracking it with our impressive but significantly less fluid minds. Recognizing the truth of fiction and the fiction of truth is one step in the right direction of doing so a bit better.
