In the Year of the Goat, just as in each and every year, the Romanian goats are down in the streets surrounded by an infernally noisy merry (usually drunk) crowd cheering up the death of the old year and the birth of the new year! The New Year carol with the goat dates back to the pre-Christian times when the ritual was more sober and had to do with the widespread myth of the death and resurrection of various divinities. So let the goats rock (with moderation however, since such cultural manifestations are stressing the pets, particularly my Lila!) :-) As one can see, the men are performing graciously, noisily and energetically, while women listen with calm...
