In the summer of 2011, about 4 months after tsunami attack, we launched the first outdoor movie screening at the riverside lot of Ishinomaki downtown as a part of the first Stand Up Week. Back then, electricity was not fully back yet and the city center has no traffic lights. But anyhow the team tried to entertain people of Ishinomaki getting supports from international contents owners. Audience including a bunch of kids sat on wooden benches built by local high school students with a help of a Tokyo architect and Herman Miller emergency readiness team. And eventually these benches became the origin of 石巻工房 Ishinomaki-lab. This summer, again, outdoor theater will be back in Ishinomaki as a program of the 4th Stand Up Week.
