In the winter of 2013 Tom Runcie and CJ Carter, winners of the JULBO Glen University Session, traveled to Chamonix France, hometown of Glen Plake, to ski and learn from Glen. It has been a full week of skiing and alpinism here in Chamonix for the two Julbo Glen University Session winners, CJ Carter and Tom Runcie. Since their arrival and meeting up with Glen Plake last Saturday, March 9th, they have skied every day, ice climbed, ate French cheese, and gotten a true taste of Julbos motherland of Chamonix! Along with guide, Julien aka Pika, they have plotted and smashed many summits, peaks, couloirs, pistes and traverses. Swiss Freeride professional skier and fellow Julbo athlete, Samuel Anthamatten, joined the crew on Wednesday for an overnight adventure to the Refuge de Cosmiques near the Aiguille du Midi. The team was greeted to an empty refuge that can sleep 100+ people and one of the most stunning sunsets and alpen glow the alps could offer. After a delicious meal and good nights sleep the crew woke up early to get after their daily goal of the Aiguille du Plan. In and out of the clouds and cold wind, the foursome (Glen, Samuel, Tom and CJ) completed their daily mission with lots of great turns, memories and photographs. Up again early this morning after waxing their skis with Glen, the boys are lapping the Aiguille du Midi and taking advantage of another sunshine day here in Chamonix.
