Insight Antidote to spiritual indigestion and stagnation MEDITATE! Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth: but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success At the commencement of his expedition as the Commander-in-Chief of Israels army, God wanted Joshua to know that contrary to established doctrine of warfare, the Word takes precedence over military tactics and strategies. He would need preeminently Gods inerrant, infallible Word to succeed. The word success occurs only once in the bible accompanied by a powerful descriptive adjective good. The God of battles would want Joshua to know that success in spiritual warfare is intertwined with the Living Word of God - the Sword of the Spirit. Prior to wielding any weapon, the foundation of victory in physical warfare is established in the spiritual realm. We can take a cursory glance at Shakespeares masterpieces as we do other books of eminence in scholarship, but when it comes to the Word, we must not only read and study but MEDITATE in order to prosper and have good success. To understand the word meditate and reap its timeless benefits: M - Masticate the Word for proper digestion E - Experience the Word through submission to its wisdom D - Draw inspiration from its fountain of sound knowledge I - Internalize the Word T - Take the Word as it is and make it your own through right application A - Translate the Word to action E - Engross your mind, soul and spirit in the Word till rivers of living water flows in and out of you Never forget, when you come to the Word, dont just read and study, but meditate and obey to experience its maximum impact. Its simply a love affair: Psalm 119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day
