Inspirational Interview For Engineers My Interview In SKODA AUTO INDIA (Assembly of Audi & Volkswagen Cars) at Shendra MIDC, Aurangabad (BE Production Engineering, Batch 2012-13) (This is my first professional interview after completing my Engineering that’s why I can memories each and every moment of my interview) Date: 28 June 2013 Place: Block No. – A 1/1 Shendra MIDC (HR Interview) 1) What’s Your Name (Interviewer Said) - Sir, Sumeet Mundhe (I said) 2) Ok Sumeet Tell me about your self - Hi, my name is Sumeet Madhavrao Mundhe. I am 22 years old. I am very Friendly, Polite & Determinant person & especially optimistic by nature. Presently I have completed my under graduate degree course Bachelor of Production Engineering from North Maharashtra University & before that also completed my 10th & 12th studies from Maharashtra State Board in Aurangabad city. I come from lower middle class family who living in Aurangabad city. In my family there are four members, my father, my mother, my twin brother & me. My father working in Forbes & company at chikhalthana MIDC as a worker & my mother is house wife. I like to driving cars & bikes, playing chess, Reading newspapers, Making new friends & playing cricket with my childhood friends. 3) Where is this COE Navalnagar College placed? - Sir it is placed in dhule district 170 kilometer away from Aurangabad. (I was fell in depression) 4) Sumeet what can you do after 12th? (Interviewer seen something unusual in my CV about year of passing as 2008-2013) - I said engineering (Politely) 5) Then tell me how many years you take for complete your Engineering Studies? - I said Five years. (I am Silent for moment & said) Sir, I am first year dropout. 6) OH........... Why? ( Interviewer Said loudly) - Sir, Because of common reason lack of study (I said confidently) (Three Interviewer persons (HR) in shock seen to me at a time, I am feeling Guilty) 7) Ok lack of study & tell its true reason why you are not study well? - I said, Sir, Actually I am taking admission very late in Engineering because of bad score in CET then it gives very less time to face semester exams pattern & unfavorable conditions arises in unknown place away from home. Then after lot of ATKT’s in first semester, I can try my best in second term but sandwich exam pattern of North Maharashtra University examinations hunt me at last. 8) Ok, you know about Skoda Auto group? - Yes Sir, Skoda group founded by Lauran & Clements Vaclav in 1895. The Skoda – Volkswagen joint venture began to operate on 16 April 1991 under the name Skoda As, becoming the fourth brand of the Volkswagen Group alongside VW, AUDI a SEAT. Skoda cars in India began their journey in 2001 from their plant set up at Shendra MIDC Aurangabad, and within 5-6 years achieved more than a Quarter share of the market in luxury cars in India. Skoda Auto India has launched twelve luxury models including Skoda Superb, Skoda Octavia, and the immensely Successful Skoda Laura Cars from Skoda. (Its ratta answer I prepare very well before interview) 9) Tell mi about car models of Skoda auto in India? I said Skoda Fabia (Hatchback) Skoda Octavia (Sedan) Skoda Laura (Sedan) Skoda Superb (Sedan) Skoda yeti (Wagon) (I forgot one Model Skoda Rapid in over excitement) 10) (He Smiled a beat) Interviewer asks then tells me about Skoda rapid? (At that time I am just blank but after moment, I am telling our self Sumeet you know that very well tell them quickly) - I said, Rapid have 1.6 Ltr. MPI petrol engine & 1.8 Ltr. TDI CR Gives 77 kW torque & 1598 cc displacement & it produce near about 600 BHP. It has 55 Ltr. Fuel tank capacities in sedan class cars. 11) Ok tell me about your future your goals? - I want to work for prestigious automobile manufacturer industry like Skoda, V W or AUDI for a long time. 12) Thank you Sumeet Wait outside. (Interviewer said) - After a 2 Hour results announced, I am selected for second round (technical Interview) & Interviewer gave me third rank out of 98 students came across from Government autonomous institutes & some prestigious colleges in Aurangabad city. We 36 students selected for technical interview in front of Senior Manager AGM Assistant General Manager (Production Department) I went in at third number for Technical Interview. (Technical interview) 1) Sumeet tell me about your self - I told same introduction in as above in front of HR. 2) Sumeet which subject do you like most? - I said, NUMERICAL CONTROL & MACHIN TOOL ROBOTICS 3) You don’t like Automobile Engineering? (Interviewer ask me loudly) (They check my confidence & independent thinking against flow) - I said, I also like automobile engineering But, Numerical Control & Machine Tool Robotics is my favorite subject. 4) Sumeet what is KANBAN system explain briefly. (It’s my case study in last year in engg. mention in my CV on first page heading) - I replayed, sir its Japanese word KANBAN, KAN means Colors & BAN means Card. Purpose of KANBAN system is to act as an indicator for stock control & replacement based on present fixed re-order quantities. Mostly used for material handling in inventory control & parts selection from stocks in process. (Ratta answer because I know about that before hence, I prepared very well) Technical Interviewer also told me some important things about KANBAN system implement in Skoda Auto for inventory of parts in assembly process. 5) You know about ABS system used in four wheelers? - I said yes sir, ABS means Anti-lock Braking system designed to avoid skidding factor by releasing the braking pressure just before the wheels lock up & then reapplying the same. This process is called pressure modulation & pressure to the brakes near about 15 times per second. 6) You know about ESP in Luxury cars? - I replied with in second, it’s Electronic Stability Programed. It can detect unstable driving situations & make an automatic connection to protect the driver from losing control. 7) Tell me about transmission systems used in automobile? - I said Sir, 1) Manual Transmission 2) Automatic Transmission (semi & fully) 8) Sumeet, I think you forgot something? (Interviewer again takes Test of my confidence) - I said, Sir, I don’t know about any new inventions in transmission system. (Interviewer smiled a beat) 9) What is the working of Propeller shaft in automobiles? - Sir, It transmit the drive from the transmission of torque to the bevel pinion or worm gear of final drive in front engine it also called drive shaft. 10) Then, tell me the difference between propeller shaft & final drive? - Sir, It does only differ in transmission of torque in different angles. 11) Ok, sumeet tell me about your final year project work? - Sir, my project based on concept of “combat robotics” I can design & developed robot vehicle according to military standards for the bomb detection & disposal of explosive material found on public places. 12) What can you achieved after doing project on robotics, instead of your branch is Production Engineering it means related to manufacturing? (I am silent for moment & said aggressively. Because, this question asks more than 100 times by my faculty teachers in my college after project selection) - Sir, Robotics is future of manufacturing technology in manufacturing industry & about my project I can design & developed near about 20 lakhs combat robot vehicle project (As per Market Price) according to military standards in 14380 Rupees. It is my achievement from my final year project as a production engineer. If we see the ratio I can manufacture 140 rupees of costly product in only 1 rupee with try to full fill the entire requirements for their reliable working in hostage situations arising on public places. (Ratio 20 lakhs divided by 14380 rupees, I can calculate the ratio before interview 140:1) 13) Sumeet what you think about present condition of Automobile Market in India? (Interviewer wants to know about my automobile market awareness) - Sir, Because of crowded competition in Automobile market in India each company try to survive in recession period, But few companies like Mahindra, Renault, Volkswagen & Audi doing well because of their successful Automobile Models. 14) Which car you want to buy? - I said, Lamborghini Mersialago SV (Two Interviewer persons (HR & Technical) seen to each other & laugh for long time because it is world’s no. 1 sport car & its lowest prices is more than 0.5 Million Dollars means near about 2.5 Cr.) 15) Sumeet thank you for your interview we will call you later. - I said sir; It’s my dream to work with Skoda Group, Thank you for giving memorable experience of life. Thanks a lot sir. After 6 days they (HR person) call on my cellphone informed me to be selected for 1 year training course program for AUDI Assembly plant extension after 1 year in shendra MIDC as Trainee Engineer in production department & tell about joining procedures. They give me 7th rank out of 98 candidates came across from Autonomous colleges in Maharashtra & some prestigious colleges in Aurangabad city for 12 vacancies in production department. Conclusion: After first year failure (Drop) most of students tell me the disadvantage of drop outs in engineering studies, I want to share this experience with my friends who study with me, Inspired me for fighting with unfavorable conditions. I think failure gives you the responsible attitude to facing stress situations & increase your determination towards your goal. I always remember one thing at all the times during my College life is “Navals Never Give Up” (Navals is short form used for Navalnagar Engineering college students in college campus) I hope this interview inspired most of students came from Rural Engineering colleges & mostly those students who taste the sweetness of failure in engineering.
