Inspirational Thought Sunday (it will be brief I promise) 21/12/2014 Fight The Good Fight As I begin my first writing session for the week, in my state of meditation I thought about some very powerful words from one of the greatest novels Ive ever read (Cloud Atlas) these few paragraphs (which are also the last in the book) Ill be sharing with you from the book is arguably one of the most powerful Ive ever read and it sums up everything about what it means to Fight for your dreams (or struggles) Giving your life for something you believe & Realising that sometimes Gods plan for your life is much bigger than you can ever imagine Read and be enlightened :) Kennelia Stradwick Anila M. Maharaj Sai-Ann N. Sultan Sofia Stanley Andrea McKenzie Joy Hammond Nelson Janique Cheesman Jane Pennella Candice Guerra Ashanna Arthur Natalie Flemming Tameika Mungo Andria Blackmon Dionne Archibald Kimoy Leon Sing Leanne Dianne Dookie Ayanna La Borde Reiad Khan Michael Matthews Dmitri Brereton Palomita Chiquita Teocah Arieal Ainka Dove and others Why fight the natural order of things? Why? Because of this:-one fine day, a purely predatory world shall consume itself. Yes the Devil shall take the hindmost until the foremost is the hindmost. In an individual, selfishness uglifies the soul; for the human species, selfishness is extinction. Is this doom written within our nature? If we believe that humanity may transcend tooth and claw, if we believe divers races & creeds can share this world as peaceably as the orphans share their candlehut tree, if we believe leaders must be just, violence muzzled. power accountable & the riches of the Earth & its Oceans shared equitably, such a world will come to pass. I am not deceived. It is the hardest of worlds to make real. Torturous advances won over generations can be lost by a single stroke of a myopic presidents pen or a vainglorious generals sword. I life shaping a world I want Jackson to inherit, not one I fear Jackson shall inherit, this strikes me as a life worth living. Upon my return to San Francisco, I shall pledge myself to the Abolotionist cause, because I owe my life to a self-freed slave & because I must begin somewhere. I hear my father-in-laws response: Oho, fine, Whiggish sentiments, Adam. But dont tell me about justice! Ride to Tennessee on an ass & convince the rednecks that they are merely white-washed negroes & their negroes are black-washed Whites! Sail to the Old World, tell em their imperial slaves are as inalienable as the Queen of Belgiums! Oh, youll grow hoarse, poor & gray in caucuses! Youll be spat on, shot at, lynched, pacified with medals, spurned by backwoodsmen! Crucified! Naive, dreaming Adam. He who would do battle with the many-headed Hydra of human nature must pay a world of pain & his family must pay it along with him! & only as you gasp your dying breath shall you understand, your life amounted to no more than one drop in a limitless ocean! Yet what is an ocean but a multitude of drops? Have a blessed Sunday and week ahead of you and keep on fighting the good fight despite how hard it might get and hopefully these words may give your heart and mind peace as it did for me.
